When: Saturday, Jun. 25th 2016, 3-6PM Where: 2021 NE 75th St. Seattle, WA 98115
Join New Dawn Guatemala for a backyard BBQ and send-off party for a social justice and documentary film trip to the ex-refugee community Nuevo Amanecer.
Come enjoy great food, friends, participate in a raffle for great Guatemalan gifts, and hear music by Los Flacos, a Seattle-based band performing tradition music from Latin American and the Carribean. Suggested donation is $20.
All proceeds from the event will support scholarships and job training for students and community members who otherwise couldn't afford to go to school.
We will also be screening a preview for a documentary film about the community of Nuevo Amanecer. Help us share this community's incredible story and continue New Dawn's commitment to fully fund the education of 30 youth and young adults. New Dawn Guatemala board members will be traveling to Nuevo Amancer July 19-28th to film footage of the community, present scholarships, and repair the community well.
If possible bring packages of smoked salmon, soccer balls or children’s books in Spanish, as we will also be presenting these items in person as part of our ongoing solidarity with the people of Nuevo Amanecer.
Want to support New Dawn but can't make it to this event? Please make a vital donation online by going to www.newdawnguatemala.org. Just $200 funds a student for a whole year.
Apart from the great music, food, and company, this will be a great opportunity for guests to learn more about vital ongoing projects within the community, including funding scholarships and job trainings, as well as infrastructure projects that provide a sustainable and ecologically sound water source for the community.
